Fibonacci 'யும் நானும்... Mission Subex Accomplished... (Part 1.0)

Firstly, I named this post as 'My First Interview Experience !!'. Then i even thought of naming it as 'One step to Success'. Then 'How to Name It'. But there is an album titled the same. hehe. And Finally i arrived at this one. 'A day with Fibonacci' or 'Fibonacci and Me' :) .

After a long time, My blog is 'BACK IN ACTION' again ;). This sentence sounds similar to a famous joke.

'I HAVE QUIT SMOKING A SEVERAL TIMES'. Lol. hehe.

Anyways, I am back in Action(Sort of Action...at least).
I feel a little relieved. I mean, i was not worried any time. But a complete satisfaction.

The title of the post may sound weird. But it really has a purpose.
Before i start my story, A quote from vaali', for the movie boys, song secret of success...

Luck Kaal Kilo, Loss Kaal Kilo, Labour Kaal Kilo,
Saethukko
Bakthi Kaal Kilo, Hope Kaal Kilo, Talent Kaal Kilo
Idellaam Saerthu Kattinaal, Periya Pottalam, 'Secret Of Success'.

True lines. I know the meaning of the lyrics as and when i heard it for the first time. But i can feel it now.

It was 13-07-2009, the third week of July.

We had a screening test for a company which came to our campus for its recruitment. We were not informed anything on the company, except that it is a product based company and it is one of the leading Indian based software companies. The test was to be in C language. Learning C from my +2, i was confident that it will be simple. I revised a little for fifteen minutes on the basic concepts of C. The test was scheduled at 4.30 PM in the college. We had our regular classes going on. My friends had got a book with C Interview questions. We discussed very little on C and were as usual chatting on all the lecture hours. It was 4.30 PM and the test started. 276 students from my college wrote this test.
The 276 was allowed for this test on the basis of the aggregate %, i suppose. Thank god !!! i had a decent percentage.
I got the question paper. The company's name was printed on it. It was 'Subex Limited'. I dint know anything about the company. The test was really hard than what i had imagined. Questions were damn confusing. Few questions were with concepts which i have not even seen anywhere. I lost hope. Anyways i wrote the test. Completed and came out. Every one was discussing on the paper being hard. I was a little relieved.

I came to know that Subex is one of the leading companies through deepak's dad, who had called him after the test. We were in the least hope of clearing it. My classmate Johnson, my class representative, had known many concepts which were given in the test. He was confident on clearing the test. I heard that the concepts were in the very book ' LET US C' from deepak. Karthikeyan and I never bothered to look into those after the test. Deepak does this usually and leaves us free from work. :)

It was 18-07-2009.

I received a mail from the placement cell subjected as 'Subex Shortlisted students list and company details'. I heard that my name was in the list from deepak, who in turn had heard it from my class girls. They got the information from the placement cell prior to this e-mail reaching us. But i was searching for my name in the list. I was in the 13 th position in my class. My lucky number as its my birth date :). The screening test date, the postion i obtained were all 13. :). They say, Coincidence. :)
82 were shortlisted from the 276. The cut-off mark was 8. When i enquired Pradeep anna, the placement incharge, the next day on the score he said mine to be 9. Just a miss. I thought.
Thank god !!!.

Details of the company were attached with the mail. I went through quickly on the website and came to know that it was a good company. A leading telecom software support company having 32 telecom service providers from the top 50 as its customers.
Visit the website of Subex to know more.

The details of the interview schedule were as follows.

1. Pre-Placement Talk

2. Written Test
Objective – C - 30 minutes
Programming – C – 30 minutes

3. Personal Interview - August 7th
Technical Round 1 – Project Leader/Project Manager
Technical Round 2 – Senior Project Manager / Product unit Head
Technical Round 3 – Senior Vice-President Engineering
HR round.

My god. Six more rounds at large. I thought i should prepare at least 2 days for the written test. As usual, i am just the common engineering student. So it was the eleventh hour again. I had a glance of the book Programming with C by Byron S Gottfried. The book was too good with examples everywhere. It was too good than the thought i had on it. Many concepts that i dint know in C were present. I read it in a fast pace. It was a good time preparing. Something new in my engineering life. lol... hehe...

It was 23-07-2009.

I had prepared my resume two days prior and took 3 copies from my dad's office.
22-07-2009 was another important day in my College Life. The Inaugural Function of the Association of Emergent Computing Professionals(AECP) was held on that day. 3.00 PM to 4.30 PM. I am the proud president of the association. :). The inaugural function went well as planned, as scheduled. Thanks to all my teachers, friends and juniors who were all involved in the preparatory work with me. My work was literally nothing but to deliver an action plan for the academic year 2009-2010.
The day went well. The next day came soon than i thought.

It is 7.45 AM when i usually leave my place. I was running a bit late that day. Thanks to my TVS Star City, I reached college at exactly 8.30 AM. The session which was scheduled at 10.00 AM started a bit late. The Pre-Placement talk by the HR Manager, Mr.Jiju George was wonderful. The subex video was just awesome. The test started soon after the talk.

Everything needs a small pause. So is this post i suppose. I will leave a pause once in a while. I hope to complete the 'so called mission's story' in four to five posts.

I do not know if i make a good writer. hehe. But i bet it will definitely be an experience sharing post. Please pour out your comments in here.

More to come up shortly,
REST IN NEXT
